Mage in Arise Ragnarok
Ranged AoE, four skills, no weapon ladder — the new-player lock that still farms packs after you learn the hub.
Mage is the ranged kit in Arise Ragnarok and the class this wiki tells new hunters to lock if they want an easy first hour. You stand off the pack, you spend four skill slots, you never shop a weapon ladder, and you still clear city rooms on a 16-player server that has been live since October 18, 2025. Solo grind lists put Mage in S with Assassin. Group lists keep it playable without making it the headline. The letters are on the class tier list. This page is how the kit actually plays.
Use the class picker if you are still between Mage and Assassin. Mage wins if you hate melee cameras. Assassin wins if you already chase burst and PvP.
The PGG kit — four skills, no weapons
Pro Game Guides describes Mage in one sentence that should settle half the arguments: ranged class with four skill slots and no weapons. That is not a flavor line. You should not be rolling dungeon greatswords hoping they magically convert. Class-locked loot still drops; you skip it or store it. Your power is Intelligence, Mana, and the four slots, plus the shadow army that scales off Intelligence.
Community class pages name the four arts you will hear in voice chat:
- Fire Wing — early slot, modest Mana, the pack tool people spam first.
- Thunder Call — later unlock on community tables.
- Frostfall — later unlock.
- Fire Balls (sometimes labeled Fire Orbs) — late slot.
Level gates on those names are player-reported, not a frozen patch note. The important part matches PGG: four skills, no Warrior shop problem.
Stats
Intelligence → Mana, then a little Vitality if you keep eating stray hits, then Agility last.
Intelligence is spell damage and the shadow-scaling stat for Mage and Healer. Mana is the tank for a kit that is its skills. If you dump Agility to chase double jump, you will dry the bar in a dungeon window and look like a B-tier class. Some farmers still park 50 Agility for the jump; PGG-style guides talk about 200+. Test once in the hub, then go back to Intelligence. Spreadsheets: stats and builds. Binds: controls.
Why Mage is the beginner default
You can miss a dodge and still live because the pack is over there. You can skip the weapon shop during getting started. You can clear blue quests without a Tank. AoE is the entire early game: rooms, not bosses. Assassin still wins a single elite and most PvP. Mage wins the “I have twenty minutes and a portal soon” loop.
The weakness is the same as the strength. No weapons means no off-kit miracle drop. Bosses that demand melee uptime feel slower than Assassin. Mana drought feels like the class disappeared. Standing still in a 16-player pile is how Mages die, not how they farm.
Dungeons, groups, and the other four classes
In a dungeon window — 15 minutes, every half hour — Mage is the pack clearer. Let a Tank face the boss if one exists. Let a Healer exist if you finally have friends. Do not stand in Warrior melee range “to help.” You help by keeping four skills on the add wave so the Tank never turns around.
Solo Mage still works in those portals if you arose a real army. Shadows cover the single-target hole. That is not optional flavor; it is how the kit reaches bosses without pretending to be Assassin.
Shadows and race
Press E to Arise, R to Collect. Extra slot every 90 levels. Merge four copies at the Guild Building. Assassin-type shadows remain the damage priority even on a caster, because type beats matching the word “Mage” on the card. Elf-type and dungeon bosses are next. Unconfirmed SS names stay unconfirmed. Read the shadow tier list and the shadows guide.
Your summons scale from Intelligence. Dumping Strength on Mage “for shadows” fights the scaling rule. Race is a smaller, unofficial lever versus PGG: community reports put Elf on Intelligence, which is the pairing people want, with Human as the safe default and Demon as a generic damage claim. Dwarf is mining. Orc is a Strength bonus you are not stacking. ELF and IGRIS are dungeon chest codes, not an Elf race unlock — codes, how to redeem.
A Mage hour that respects the portal
Start in the city, spend Fire Wing on anything that clumps, skip weapon vendors, arise assassin-type corpses, and walk to the next live door with the dungeon schedule open. If a code is live, take it before the window, not during. Scripts such as auto farm will move your body; they will not aim Frostfall. Auto arise is the one that actually matches this kit, because your eyes are on skill cooldowns, not on the E prompt.
Reroll off Mage only if you hate ranged play or your group already has two casters and needs a Tank. Do not reroll because a launch list called Healer S-tier. Mage is the easy class on purpose. Keep it until the four slots feel boring, then read the Classes Hub and the Tier List Hub before you spend a ticket.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Arise Ragnarok on Roblox.
Why does this wiki recommend Mage for new players?
Ranged AoE, four skill slots, no weapons to shop, and packs that die before you learn every boss telegraph. Assassin is stronger for PvP and single-target burst.
Does Mage use weapons at all?
Pro Game Guides says no weapons — four skill slots only. Skip class-locked melee drops. Do not equip Warrior or Assassin blades.
What stats should Mage take?
Intelligence, then Mana. Vitality if you are dying. Agility last, and only after you test the 50 versus 200+ double-jump claims.
Do Mage shadows scale off Intelligence?
Yes. Mage and Healer summons scale from Intelligence. Strength dumps do not feed the army. See the shadows guide.
Is Elf required on Mage?
No. Community reports give Elf an Intelligence bonus, but it is not an official PGG table. Human is fine. The ELF code is a chest, not a race unlock.
